Muharram
Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh dears :) how are u?
I have been active today! In the morning I had two cups of coffee (yes, I have been a coffee girlie since June started), did a workout, showered and went to work. I had a shift for today and in sha Allah tomorrow another one. The work was a bit physical, or so it felt after more than one month without any work. I'm happy to go tomorrow too. It feels good to be active. I almost made another workout, I mean now in the evening, but decided to cool down instead and let my body rest, and have a chat with you guys.

Tonight from sunset, the first month of the islamic calendar starts. The month is called Muharram, which comes from arabic root h-r-m, meaning "forbidden" or "sacred". Muharram is one of the four sacred months of the islamic hijri calendar (like Ramadan is one of the sacred months). Hijri calendar, the islamic calendar, gets it's name from Hijra, which means the migration early muslims made from Mecca to Medina, prophet Muhammed saws as their spiritual leader. It was the beginning of a unified muslim community.
Also hijra has some other meanings, or aspects, islamically. Hijra can mean a person's migration for their faith, for example a person moves to an area where they can practice their religion freely. Hijra can also be a spiritual matter, as abandoning sin and migrating one's heart towards devotion to Allah swt.
I start my Hijra and Muharram, and the islamic new year 1448, by cleansing myself physically and spiritually. My period started today, so I'll go through this very sacred, feminine phase and take it as a blessing. Spiritually (I use this word now a lot) I want to cleanse my heart from evil, and leave the past to past. That's my biggest struggle at the moment, I feel like I almost define myself with it, so I want to put that in order. I can define myself with my actions and feelings, spread my wings and take pictures on my way. I am living in this moment, not doom scrolling, not loathing in anxiety. I want my life to be meaningful. I want to live, not only dream or think about it.
And the best thing about changes is that you can make them anytime. I'm writing about the islamic new year, but we don't really make any resolutions or celebrate it. This just happens at a good time, and if it can spark up a positive change, why not? But if you want to make changes in your life, you don't need to wait for some certain time to do it. You can start now, and it's important that you do so. Be the change, and stand firm on your feet. Be proud of yourself.

Rest of the evening I will watch HBO, have some snacks, and relax. Maybe a cup of tea?
I hope you all have had a nice day. In sha Allah we continue to strive and grow. Thank you for reading and remember, you're always welcome back ❤ Next time then,
Aisha
