Sleep well
Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh :) how are u?
Things are alright, alhamdulillah. I've been following some news lately and it is despicable. What sickens me the most is that Israel seems to get away with anything what they do, because Hamas.. to be clear if there's some doubt, no one is on the side of terrorism or unaliving anyone. Not when it's done by extremists from Muslim majority countries, not when it's done by USA, Israel, or a "troubled loner". Hamas is freedom fighters, guerrillas, who take action when no one else does, of course again, I don't support any kinds of attacks. But Palestine doesn't have an army on it's own. The whole dynamics of Israel vs. Palestine is an overpowering army and killer mentality against indigenous people who want their heritage and future to be saved. A right to have a normal and continuous life.
I'm so angry about this. I'm angry that the world leaders don't follow any decent rules. They let this genocide happen, like they have let it happen before in numerous countries. Those who have power, only build thicker walls around themselves, they don't build better lives for their people they're elected to represent.
The genocide and oppression needs to stop. It needed to stop decades ago, and now it's almost too late. Big up for Freedom Flotilla mission, may Allah reward their peaceful intentions and aid them to break the siege.

Time to have some talbina. I like it, and what makes it more special is that actually barley porridge is a traditional Finnish dish too. I have had high cholesterol levels, which is why I have been on a diet, and I've actually managed to decrease the blood values, alhamdulillah. I think it's because of the almost daily bowl of talbina and many cups of green tea. I also had to leave cheese out, and now I've gotten into making some spreads from scratch. Yesterday I made a paprika spread, which turned out to be almost like Muhammara, a dish of Syrian origin, made of toasted bell peppers, some breadcrumbs, walnuts and spices. I made mine with a different recipe, the ingredients were similar but the recipe I used had also fresh basil, no oil, and honey instead of pomegranate molasses.
I'll try to find a good, authentic recipe for the Muhammara, but meanwhile you can try this paprika spread (dip, pasta sauce):
- 2 red bell peppers
- 1 box of cherry tomatoes
- 1 dl of chopped basil or parsley
- 1 dl of walnuts
- 2 pieces of bread
- 2 cloves of garlic (optional)
- 2 tsp of honey
- pinch of salt
- hot pepper or cayenne pepper (optional)
Cut the bell peppers in halves and remove seeds. Cut also the tomatoes in half. Place them all to a baking sheet+tray, and toast in oven, 200C about 30 minutes. Measure other ingredients to a mixing bowl. Add the toasted bell peppers and tomatoes. Blend with an immersion blender until smooth. It doesn't have to be the smoothest paste, you can leave some texture in it. Store in fridge and eat with bread, or use it as a pasta sauce.

Time to have my last cup of tea for today. It says simply "Relax", and that I'll do in sha Allah. May Allah let us all sleep well tonight, as well as all the others nights too, with our loved ones, roof over our heads, warm clean clothes, and to have some water to drink and wash, some food and dessert too. Peace and not quiet but laughter and joy. ♥
Later then,
Aisha
