Learning more about cosmetics
Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatullah dears :) how are you?
I am waiting some maintenance people to come and check our air conditioning valves. I could have gone out, since we have a beautiful sunshine today, but instead I started to do a little research about cosmetic products which I will share with you. Don't judge me, sometimes outside feels too difficult, especially alone. My husband went to jummah prayer so today we couldn't go together for a walk. (Jummah Mubarak everyone ♥)

So, I have dug a bit deeper into the cosmetics. Earlier I wrote in my post that Ziaja is doing animal testing, and that is false! I edited the post, but just want to make sure you know. Ziaja is a Polish company, and EU has totally banned any kind of animal testing in 2013. Dermatologically tested means nowadays (I don't know which barrel I have been living in) tests on people in the supervision of a dermatologist, or dermatological methods on people. So, good news, and so sorry that I have given wrong information.
Here's a link to the European commission site about the ban.
Also Animalia (Finnish) and Peta have their own lists about cruelty free cosmetics. Note: Garnier is on Animalia's list, but Garnier is connected to Israel (through the owning companies L'Oreal and Nestle) so it's on the boycott list. Oikeutta Eläimille has more information on animal testing in Finnish.

So I am happy to use my Ziaja products, don't have to change it. But I did look up to some alternatives. Firstly, I remembered Yves Rocher! The nostalgic feel it has.. But it's on the boycott list. They have bought Israeli toiletries label Sabon. So that is out of question.. Next I remembered Urtekram! Urtekram is a Danish brand, and they sell cosmetics and food products worldwide. I've used their shampoos and conditioners, and also I have bought some of their spices and other foods. I have to say that their hair care products weren't really working for me, but I could definitely try their other products. They are also easily available here in Finland, f.e. Prisma sells them. Next time I go grocery shopping, I go continue my research and look for their range.
Then another brand I want to try, is Smuuti Skin. I take my SPF seriously, and I found out they have a sun lotion in their line. It was also more affordable than the one I'm using now, so next time I will try their one in sha Allah.
What comes to hair care, I still use my homemade shampoo bars (made from a ready base mass) and it works well. Then I add some of my beauty oil while I'm in the shower, and then I use a hair mask. This routine has been working well now. The hair mask I use is from brand Joanna, it's their chamomile hair mask (and actually the size of the Garnier one, but cheaper). Funny thing is now, I tried to find more information from their web site, and I didn't even found the hair mask on there, so I guess it's a bit of a wild card. I don't think it's vegan either.. so research continues.

The maintenance people haven't showed up yet. They can still come in the late afternoon. I have a wet hair but have to wear hijab situation going on.. 😅 oh well. I wish we all will have a nice weekend. Remember to make duaa!
Until next time,
Aisha
