Great weather, small forecast
Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh all :) how's your weekend going?
It's Juhannus aka Midsommer time, and even though we don't celebrate, this is when the summer is at its best. The sun doesn't really go down, we had a beautiful warm weather today, and now the fan works at night as it is supposed to. I haven't been anywhere, just home relaxing, enjoying of the balcony and the plants growing.. It's been nice. We had a healthy dinner today: pesto marinated tilapia with attieke, which is a bit like couscous but it's made of cassava. We also watched a football game. I have had unlimited amount of cherries and many nectarines. Alhamdulillah. The summer found me. ♥
...
Now I have my tea, and I'm ready to chat. First I want to tell you that I have achieved something: I have had time to scroll through Vinted, and I have been tempted to buy something brand new, but I haven't! No packages on the way. No money spent. Just looking, and then telling myself that I don't need anything. Alhamdulillah. This is what minimalism is, at least a part of it. Instead of buying something I have been eyeing on my existing wardrobe and picked out some outfits I can wear now and later in the autumn too. My go to outfit has mainly been a long shirt with linen pants or a satin skirt. Also an Oxford shirt with track pants is an easy outfit for work or for running errands. Abaya is still a bit of a step up.. Maybe I just haven't had the right day for it just yet.
But anyways! I know now the summer feels so sweet and we want to enjoy it while it lasts. But the autumn will come later like it always does, and I feel like giving a little trend forecast for the autumn winter 2026-2027 :) This time it's all about what we already have in our wardrobe, and which still feels wearable in this year, even the next one too. Let's look at the list!
1. Long gloves
This looks so elegant and cute. I have a pair on my wish list, and if I decide to buy my first brand new item of this year, it will be a pair of embellished, long faux leather gloves. These will look good in black or burgundy, or maybe in some unexpected color.
2. Soft materials
Materials like faux fur and faux suede will continue to be trending in this autumn too. Different textures, knits, faux leather, lace, ruffles. Soft and chic.
3. Paisley pattern
Also patterned scarves, may it be a hip scarf or a head scarf. Paisley is a beautiful choice and looks good in a classic pashmina shawl. I have a winter scarf with paisley pattern, it works on different materials.
4. Brown, burgundy, chartreuse
And red, and butter yellow. We haven't had enough of these colors, and that's why we keep them still! No need to change. Brown and burgundy are classics, and fit the cooling, darkening nights so well. If you want to try something new to cheer your wardrobe up, I would try something in fuchsia or smoky blue. Both go well with brown and burgundy too, for example.
5. Bold jewelry
If you have your chunky earrings and bangles still in your jewel case, polish them up. I don't actually have any, but I love those big golden bangles, worn over your sleeve.
6. Colourful/oversized sweaters
The textures will be a thing this autumn too, and oversized sweaters and knitwear looks interesting when paired with something very different. Satin, leather.. or on top of your floaty summer dress! Goes with the track pants too. Also we haven't forgotten the dopamine dressing trend, colors still bring a smile on our faces and you don't need to leave them in the autumn even though the greens fade away.
7. Layering
This is the most convenient trend of autumn and winter. When you are not quite sure of the weather, you can wear a few layers you can then take off or add according to the changing weather. Layers make the outfit more interesting. Don't also give away your oversized coats! Even though more tailored styles will be trending this year, an oversized coat is a classic and looks still good, and works with the layers.
+ a skincare tip: Bakuchiol and glycerol
This "natural retinol", bakuchiol, has been trending in skincare for a while, and I have tried it too. I use it as an ingredient in my homemade beauty oil. It has anti age properties, and it's more gentle to the skin than retinol. I have used it now some months, and as it is only one of the ingredients in my mix, I can't say for sure about the results, other than my skin looks good. Other product I can say that works really wonders, is glycerol. I mix a plant based glycerol with aloe vera gel and use it as a serum in the mornings and evenings, and it has smoothened my skin so much! All the little wrinkles around my nose have vanished. Glycerol is a very common ingredient in skincare, but I think it will be put in the spotlight soon. It absorbs moisture from the air, so it keeps the skin hydrated. Also it encourages the skins own collagen production in the long run. It's a cheap ingredient but does so much! I definitely can recommend. I get my glycerol from Limepop.

I can't help it, I'm always one foot in the future and one foot in the past. But I do also sit down and have a moment. Summer makes things feel easier, it's the sunshine and warmth we also need to be able to feel nourished and growing. My cresses have been growing wildly and I'm waiting what happens with my black eyed peas. Suttis got some fresh romaine lettuce today, they are growing fine too.
But what will be the thing that sparks the growth out of me? Recently it has been du'aa and reading these few ayahs from Qur'an. All that is barakah, blessings. Alhamdulillah. These times are not the easiest to hold onto one's deen. But reminding our hearts of the true islam brings peace and clarity.
We are still in the blessed, holy month, and our actions count. I remind you and me to do some good deeds, those that benefit us and those that benefit others.
...
It's getting late now.. I made another cup of tea, and will watch some more football and try to focus in the moment. Thnx dears for reading, and sharing these moments with me. Enjoy your weekend, later then,
Aisha
